Waxing is one of the best ways to temporarily remove unwanted hair. If waxed regularly over time, hair in the waxed areas regrows lighter and sparser. For facial waxing, removal of unwanted facial hair allows for a more youthful look and a smoother even application of make up.
How long will the results last? After a client’s first waxing, the results can last 3-6 weeks, depending on the individual’s hair re-growth. With regular waxing, the length of time between treatments usually increases. How long does my hair have to be? ¼ – ½” long. Will the hair grow back thicker? No. Regular and continued waxing usually results in sparser and finer hair re-growth. Does it hurt? It’s most uncomfortable at first since it’s a new sensation. Any discomfort dissipates quickly and decreases with regular treatments, as less hair is removed each time. Caffeine, menstruation, and pregnancy increase skin sensitivity. Are there any contraindications to waxing? Yes. Avoid all waxing while on Accutane and for a minimum of 6-12 months after coming off the medication. Facial waxing is also not recommended if you are using Accutane, Retin-A, Renova, Differin, or other types of skin thinning acne medications. If you are using any topical cream that contains these medications, you should stop them for 7 days prior to waxing.
